Championship Rankings Post LAMM – July 2017

Famous for embracing the challenge of the Scottish Highlands, the LAMM returned in 2017 and delivered another brilliant mountain marathon with a remote overnight camp and courses that featured plenty of route choice, Munro summits and challenging mountain terrain.

Now that Marmot Dark Mountains™ and the LAMM have taken place, the 2017 British Mountain Marathon Championship rankings have been updated.

British Championship – Elite Women

Sabrina Verjee and Holly Rush are currently tied with an equal 52 points each after winning Marmot Dark Mountains™ and the LAMM respectively. Verjee has made her intentions clear and has already entered the ROC Mountain Marathon™ this September. Kerstin Rosenqvist from Sweden is sitting in second place, and if she chooses the race at the ROC, she will certainly challenge Verjee all the way.

British Championship – Elite Men

The Elite Men’s standings are more complex with Duncan Archer and Shane Ohly winning the LAMM Elite by a comfortable margin, but with neither runner competing at Marmot Dark Mountains™ they are sitting in joint third place along with Tom Gibbs who won at Marmot Dark Mountains™. Christopher Barnes and Tim Laney are just two points apart at the top of the table, but there is considerable change possible, depending on who races at the ROC Mountain Marathon™.

The inaugural British Mountain Marathon Championship is wide open!
